The ICC Is a Danger to Americans
Trump imposes new sanctions on individuals, but more can be done.
Sanctions on four more International Criminal Court officials, announced Wednesday by Secretary of State Marco Rubio , will be viewed by most of the press as a defense of Israel. That’s a worthy cause, but it misjudges the stakes. This is a matter of American self-defense.
One sanctioned judge, Canada’s Kimberly Prost , authorized an ICC investigation into the U.S. war in Afghanistan. Launched in 2020 to investigate the prior 17 years, the war-crimes investigation remains open—and looming—even though the U.S. isn’t a member state and the court has no jurisdiction.
