Sushant Singh Rajput case: Rhea Chakraborty breaks silence on Instagram after receiving clean chit

Dubai: Nearly five years after the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially closed the case, concluding that the actor died by suicide.

The report, filed on March 22, 2025, clears Rhea Chakraborty and her family of all allegations.

Following the CBI’s closure report, Rhea Chakraborty returned to Instagram with her first post since the announcement.

The actress shared behind-the-scenes images from her stint on the reality show Roadies Double XX, where she appeared alongside team leaders Rannvijay Singha, Neha Dhupia, and Elvish Yadav.

Dressed in a brown leather outfit, Rhea captioned the post: “Watching vote out > = being at vote out.” Fans also noticed the soundtrack she chose—Satisfied by Catching Flies—adding an introspective layer to the post.

The CBI’s final report has been submitted to a special court in Mumbai, which will determine whether to accept the findings or request further investigation. The report clears all individuals named in the FIRs filed in the case, including Rhea, her parents, and her brother.

Rhea’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, issued a statement welcoming the CBI’s findings. He emphasised that Rhea had endured immense emotional and legal distress over the past few years, including 27 days in jail, due to what he called baseless accusations and a media-fueled smear campaign.

It’s no secret that Rhea became the target of an intense media witch-hunt following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. Branded guilty without trial, she was vilified on primetime television, hounded by paparazzi, and subjected to misogynistic slander.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34. The case, which initially began with a complaint filed by his father in Patna, was later transferred to the CBI.
