PM Modi In Japan LIVE: PM Modi Lands In Japan To Attend 15th India-Japan Annual Summit

PM Modi Japan Visit Day-1 LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Tokyo on Friday for his two-day official visit to Japan, which is set to take place from August 29 to 30. During his stay, PM Modi will attend the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit, where he will also meet Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. PM Modi’s Japan visit comes amid a downturn in India-US relations over President Donald Trump’s policies on trade and tariffs.

The talks, to be held on the first day of PM’s trip, are expected to see Japan pledging to double its investment target in India, and the two sides are likely to unveil a raft of agreements to expand cooperation in a range of areas, including trade, investment, defence, and science and technology. PM Modi will also meet Japanese industrialists and political leaders in Tokyo.

On the second day of his trip, Prime Ministers Modi and Ishiba are likely to travel to Sendai city on the high-speed train to visit a semiconductor facility.

In the second leg of the visit, PM Modi will travel to the Chinese city of Tianjin to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on August 31 and September 1.
