Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, businessman Sunjay Kapur, passed away on June 12, 2025, after suffering a heart attack, reportedly triggered by an allergic reaction after swallowing a bee during a polo match. His untimely demise left many shocked. While his funeral is scheduled to be held in Delhi, it was delayed due to legal formalities related to his foreign citizenship.
Sunjay had moved on and married Priya Sachdev after divorcing Karisma Kapoor, with whom he shares two children—Samaira and Kiaan. Karisma, however, chose to stay single, never remarrying after their split.
In a 2017 interview with DNA, Karisma’s father, veteran actor Randhir Kapoor, addressed the speculations surrounding her potential second marriage and her then-rumoured relationship with businessman Sandeep Toshniwal. He expressed that Karisma seemed content with her life and didn’t appear inclined toward remarriage.
“I think Lolo (Karisma) is very well settled and happy. I have never discussed the issue of marriage with her but if she does plan to, she will always have my blessings. But I don’t think she wants to get married. She is a happy mother and if she wants, she can get married any time but there is no step in that direction right now. She is happy the way she is,” Randhir said.
Calling her an “excellent mother,” he praised her dedication to her children and suggested that Karisma may not feel the need to remarry because of how fulfilled she is in her current life.
“Karisma is an excellent mother who dotes on her children and probably doesn’t feel the need to get married,” he had added.
During the time of Karisma and Sunjay’s high-profile divorce in 2016, Randhir had also spoken to the Hindustan Times, stating he had never been in favour of the match. “I was never in favour of her marrying him,” he had said candidly.
Despite personal setbacks, Karisma has continued to maintain a dignified public presence and has returned to acting with select web series and brand endorsements.
