Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and is thus observed as a day of penance, fasting and mourning as per Britannica. However, it is not a federal holiday in the US and federal government offices, postal services and most schools will remain open on Good Friday.

These are Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, Nort Dakota, New Jersey, Tennessee and Texas. Kentucky observes it for one and a half days.
