After getting a flying start, the collection of Ajith’s latest movie Good witnessed a dip in collections on its second day – a trend that’s fairly common for big-star films with massive fan followings.
Typically, films led by stars like Ajith draw in massive footfalls on the first day thanks to die-hard fans, with the following days offering a more realistic picture of the film’s actual pull among the general audience.
Good Bad Ugly 2nd Day Box Office Report
On the second day, the film’s overall occupancy rate in theatres stood at 50.64%. The morning shows opened to a modest 28.80% occupancy, but the numbers steadily improved through the day – hitting 46.87% in the afternoon, 52.99% in the evening, and peaking at a solid 73.91% for night shows, as per Sacnilk data. This clearly shows that the audience interest picked up as the day progressed, especially among working crowds and casual moviegoers who generally prefer weekend evening or night screenings.
Good Bad Ugly Tamil Nadu Collection
Among the centres, Chennai remains its strongest market where the movie registered 67% overall occupancy, with night shows nearing 90%. Dindigul surprisingly outperformed several major centers, logging a whopping 78% occupancy overall and 95% for night shows. Trichy, Pondicherry, and Coimbatore also delivered strong showings. These numbers are encouraging signs for the film’s run through the weekend, especially in Tamil Nadu where Ajith continues to enjoy a rock-solid fanbase.
Outside Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru recorded 27.55% occupancy while parts of Kerala like Kochi and Trivandrum registered decent response. However, the movie failed to leave a big impact in the non-South markets like Mumbai and Delhi NCR where occupancy stood at 15.5% and 13%, respectively. Unless it is high-budget pan-India movie, South movies generally do not attract North Indian cine-goers.
It has to be noted that the movie has been released in the Telugu version as well which had 15.78% occupancy on day two.
Good Bad Ugly 2nd Day Box Office Collection
On its second day, Good Bad Ugly collected around ₹13.5 crore (nett) in India, bringing the total domestic box office collection to ₹42.75 crore within just two days of release. While this is a sharp drop from the ₹29.5 crore (nett) earned on Day 1, industry trackers are not alarmed. In fact, this dip was largely expected and doesn’t reflect a loss of interest as much as a settling of the initial hype.
Despite the second-day slowdown, the buzz around Good Bad Ugly remains strong. Word-of-mouth is beginning to shape the film’s trajectory beyond fan enthusiasm, and the weekend collections – particularly Sunday – will be crucial in determining whether the film can sustain its early momentum.
With Ajith’s strong pull in the south and a decent performance in tier-2 and tier-3 towns, the film is well-positioned for a stable weekend. Whether it can maintain its pace heading into the weekdays remains to be seen, but for now, Good Bad Ugly continues to hold its ground at the box office.
