Officials are making elaborate arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Andhra Pradesh on May 2. He will kickstart the construction works of capital Amaravati, at Velagapudi in Guntur district.
Personnel of the Protocol, Police, Revenue and other departments visited the venue, near the Secretariat, where Mr. Modi would participate in a programme.
The police stepped up security in the capital region, and in NTR, Krishna and Guntur districts.
Authorities were preparing to conduct the programme in about 300 acres, and arrangements were being made for VIP gallery, parking slots, seating for public, drinking water, toilets and other facilities.
Meanwhile, the State government on Friday issued an order constituting an organising committee with six Ministers to look after the arrangements. Ministers P. Narayana, Nara Lokesh, Payyavula Keshav, Y. Satya Kumar Yadav, Nadendla Manohar and Kollu Ravindra would monitor the arrangements.
Commissioner (Health and Family Welfare) G. Veerapandian was appointed the Nodal Officer for the stone-laying programme, the order said.
