Television has always been a space where iconic shows often overlap, leading to comparisons from viewers and the media. The recent announcement of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 has sparked discussions among fans, especially in relation to Anupamaa, one of the most successful ongoing shows in recent years. These comparisons also led to speculation that actress Rupali Ganguly, who plays the lead in Anupamaa, might be unhappy with the launch of the new series.
Responding to the growing chatter, producer Ekta Kapoor addressed the issue during a podcast. She dismissed the rumours and expressed her disappointment over how the situation was being portrayed. Speaking candidly, she said, unki is coming and this and that. I felt there was such bad taste. She is such a big star.”
Kapoor acknowledged the achievements of Anupamaa and credited its sustained success to both the creator, Rajan Shahi, and the powerful lead performance by Rupali Ganguly. She said,
“Anupama, the show, Rajan, the creator, have done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number one and they should continue to be number one. We are coming in with our purpose to tell our story.”

She further added that the comparisons being drawn between the shows and their lead characters were not only unfair but also unnecessary.
“These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows is so unnecessary,” she noted.
Anupamaa has remained a top performer on Indian television since its premiere in 2020. Its story of a homemaker who reclaims her identity has resonated with a wide audience. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which first aired in 2000, is remembered as a milestone in Indian soap operas and its return has naturally drawn attention.
