Demon Slayer Infinity Castle box office Day 3: India records staggering 1st weekend

‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle’ registered a historic opening weekend in India. The Japanese film became the biggest non-Hollywood foreign grosser in the country in three days. The dark fantasy action film collected around Rs 41 crore nett in India, with gross earnings around Rs 50 crore – biggest ever for a foreign film which is not Hollywood.

‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle’ is directed by Haruo Sotozaki, and is based on the ‘Infinity Castle’ arc of the 2016–20 manga series ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge’.

As reported by the trade website Sacnilk, the film has already surpassed other Japanese animes, including ‘Jujutsu Kaisan 0’ and ‘Suzume’ in its pre-sales business. The ‘Infinity Castle’ has become the highest-grossing Japanese film ever in local currency, raking in over 69 billion and surpassing the record set by ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train’ (54.5 billion).

While the film is on a record-breaking spree everywhere, North America has emerged as its biggest international market, contributing $70 million to its worldwide collection. The second-biggest market for the film is Korea with $34.7 million, and Taiwan with $24.5 million.

‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle’ is on its way to becoming the biggest Japanese film in the US by the next weekend.
