Brandon Blackstock, Country Music talent manager and former husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has sadly passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer, his family confirmed on Thursday. He was 48. In a statement shared with the Associated Press, a family representative said, Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.” The news was first reported by People magazine.
Kelly Clarkson’s Statement
Blackstock’s death comes just a day after Kelly Clarkson postponed her “Studio Session” Las Vegas concerts, citing a family emergency. In a post on Instagram, Clarkson wrote, “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding”
Brandon and Kelly’s love story
Blackstock and Clarkson met in 2006 during a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards. The couple began dating in 2012 and were married the following year. They share two children — River and Remington. Their marriage ended in a high-profile divorce in 2020, with Clarkson citing irreconcilable differences. The separation was finalised in 2022, following lengthy legal proceedings that included disputes over spousal support and financial settlements. In 2024, the two reached a resolution over lawsuits involving millions of dollars that Blackstock allegedly overcharged Clarkson while managing her career.
Music Career
Blackstock was also known for representing artists like Blake Shelton and Rascal Flatts.
Personal Front
Blackstock is also survived by his two older children, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage to Melissa Ashworth. In 2022, he became a grandfather when Savannah gave birth to a son, Lake.
