Aishwarya Rai ‘Almost Stepped Away’ From Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Says Anil Kapoor: ‘Had Concerns…’

As Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai completed 25 years, Anil Kapoor remembered late Satish Kaushik, and also recalled Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s casting in the film.

Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, and Sonali Bendre starrer Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, directed by Satish Kaushik, has completed 25 years. To mark the milestone, Anil Kapoor shared a nostalgic post looking back at memories from the film. Sharing several stills from the film featuring him and Aishwarya, Anil Kapoor recalled how the actress became a part of this film. He revealed that while they were shooting for Taal, he was so impressed by Aishwarya’s talent that he suggested her name to director Satish Kaushik. While the actress had some concerns and almost stepped away from Hamara Dil Aapke Paas before shoot began, Anil Kapoor and Satish Kaushik went to her home and had a heartfelt conversation with her.

In his Instagram story, Anil Kapoor wrote, “Looking back at Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai as it completes 25 years, my heart is filled with memories of my dearest friend Satish Kaushik. I still remember how Aishwarya became a part of this special journey. While we were shooting Taal, I was struck by her incredible talent and suggested her name to Naidu Saab and Satish ji. At first, there were some reservations, but once Satish saw her on set, he was convinced. The rest, as they say, is history.”

He further added, “Ironically, just before shooting began, Aishwarya had some concerns and almost stepped away. Satish and I went to her home, had a heartfelt conversation, and thankfully, she decided to stay on board. And I’m so glad she did, because her performance was phenomenal and the film went on to become a super hit, loved by both the trade and the audience. Grateful for the memories, the magic we created, and for my friend Satish, whom I miss dearly every day #HamaraDilAapkePaasHai.”

Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Boney Kapoor, was a remake of 1997 Telugu film Pelli Chesukundam. The film was one of the highest grossing movies of year 2000. Apart from Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the cast of the film also includes Sonali Bendre, Puru Raaj Kumar, Anang Desai, Anupam Kher, Mukesh Rishi, Johnny Lever, Himani Shivpuri, and others.
