NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders ’ mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy posted a cryptic Instagram story tagging former KKR coach Abhishek Nayar, shortly after the Indian cricket team’s assistant coach was let go by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In the Instagram story, Varun posted an image of himself in KKR colours alongside Nayar.

Nayar built his reputation as a sharp, player-first mentor during his time with the three-time IPL champions. He is credited with playing a pivotal role in shaping talents like Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, and Chakravarthy.

Fans quickly picked up on a possible return for Nayar, linking it to the BCCI’s recent decision to part ways with assistant coach Nayar, fielding coach T Dilip, and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai following India’s Test series defeats to New Zealand and Australia.
