Kiara Advani has reportedly been approached to play Bollywood’s Tragedy Queen Meena Kumari in Siddharth P Malhotra’s ‘Kamal Aur Meena’.
Since the announcement of the Meena Kumari biopic, there has been a surge of curiosity about who will portray the legendary actress on screen. Sidharth P. Malhotra, in collaboration with Saregama and the Amrohi family, has secured the rights for ‘Kamal Aur Meena’, which will bring to life the epic, real-life romance between the legendary director-screenwriter Kamal Amrohi and the celebrated actress Meena Kumari. Now, Pinkvilla reported that Bollywood actress Kiara Advani has been approached to play Meena Kumari in this biopic.
Sources close to the project told the entertainment portal that the filmmakers have approached Kiara Advani to play the legendary Meena Kumari in the upcoming biopic. The director and creative team believe Kiara is the ideal choice for the iconic role due to the emotional depth and grace it requires. They have already narrated the script to her, and while Kiara reportedly loved it, she is yet to give her final approval.
If she agrees, this could be the first film she starts shooting post-pregnancy, adding another layer of anticipation to the project. With ‘War 2’, ‘Toxic’, and possibly the Meena Kumari biopic in her schedule, Kiara’s range is set to expand on screen, thrilling her fans.
Another intriguing aspect is who will be cast opposite her as Kamal Amrohi, the legendary filmmaker and Meena Kumari’s former husband. The chemistry between the leads will be crucial in capturing the poignant intensity of their relationship.
Meanwhile, Siddharth P Malhotra shared the teaser of ‘Kamal Aur Meena’ in September last year, and the makers mentioned that the film was in the casting stage. In his caption, Siddharth P Malhotra wrote, “With access to over 500 handwritten letters exchanged between Kamal Sahaab and Meenaji as well as personal journals detailing their life together the insights and research we have in telling this story in invaluable. It’s a profound privilege to direct this incredible true story, though the responsibility is immense.”
