Akshay Kumar’s film Welcome To The Jungle (Welcome 3) faces financial trouble, halting production since August 2023.
Akshay Kumar’s much-talked-about film Welcome To The Jungle seems to have hit a rough patch. According to reports, the film’s shoot has been put on hold due to serious money troubles. The movie, which began filming in December 2023, hasn’t seen much progress in the last 9 to 10 months. The last time the team shot anything was back in August 2023 and since then, it’s been a long pause. What’s worse, a large part of the film is still left to shoot.
A report by Pinkvilla claims that the cast, including the big stars, haven’t been paid yet. Their payments are pending, and that’s made the situation even more uncertain.
Welcome To The Jungle is the third part of the popular Welcome comedy series. “Around two to three schedules of Welcome To The Jungle have been cancelled over the last six months, leaving the actors and their team confused about the prospects. The actors have been allotting dates for the shoot of Welcome To The Jungle to producer Firoz Nadiadwala, and the same stands cancelled at the last minute due to logistical and financial issues,” a source informed the news portal.
“There are also issues of non-payment of dues to the actors and their staff. Some of the originally cast actors have left the film, and the remaining are still lending their support for the love of the franchise. They all believe that Welcome is a loved franchise, and are willing to adjust their dates to finish Welcome To The Jungle,” the source added.
A Hindi news report has claimed that Akshay Kumar holds a major 80 per cent stake in Welcome To The Jungle, while the remaining 20 per cent is shared between producer Firoz Nadiadwala and a few others. So far, Nadiadwala has not commented publicly on the situation.
The film was officially announced in September 2023, coinciding with Akshay Kumar’s 56th birthday.
Welcome To The Jungle boasts a massive star-studded cast, featuring some of Bollywood’s most loved comedy and action stars. The ensemble includes Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, and Yashpal Sharma. Leading ladies include Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, and Vrihi Kodvara.
