The biggest gainers of the session on the were Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE: ), which rose 1.40% or 0.61 points to trade at 44.15 at the close. McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: ) added 0.34% or 1.07 points to end at 316.79 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE: ) was up 0.27% or 0.73 points to 273.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck & Company Inc (NYSE: ), which fell 4.59% or 3.80 points to trade at 79.04 in late trade. Amgen Inc (NASDAQ: ) declined 3.44% or 9.62 points to end at 270.44 and Unitedhealth Group (NYSE: ) down 2.54% or 10.30 points to 394.51.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ: ) which rose 10.27% to 273.77, Celanese Corporation (NYSE: ) which was up 9.56% to settle at 49.05 and Leidos Holdings Inc (NYSE: ) which gained 4.60% to close at 154.75.
The worst performers were Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was down 12.39% to 24.39 in late trade, Palantir Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: ) which lost 12.05% to settle at 108.86 and Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was down 9.96% to 450.37 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were NetClass Technology Inc (NASDAQ: ) which rose 162.53% to 33.00, Marin Software Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was up 114.78% to settle at 1.36 and AIFU Inc DRC (NASDAQ: ) which gained 80.40% to close at 0.22.
The worst performers were NuCana PLC (NASDAQ: ) which was down 63.27% to 0.40 in late trade, bioAffinity Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: ) which lost 44.50% to settle at 0.21 and N2OFF Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was down 42.68% to 0.39 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1651 to 1111 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2229 fell and 1072 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.

Shares in bioAffinity Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to all time lows; down 44.50% or 0.17 to 0.21.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.37% or 112.07 to $3,434.37 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.22% or 1.84 to hit $58.97 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.94% or 1.77 to trade at $62.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.14, while USD/JPY fell 0.84% to 142.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 99.11.
